Alison Sheeley, BSc MCSP

Alison is a Chartered Physiotherapist, who recently qualified from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, having chosen to move into the Physiotherapy profession following a career in the Civil Service.

Alison has an interest in musculo-skeletal disorders and a particular interest in the use of massage therapy for the treatment of soft tissue injuries and she has practised therapeutic massage for 7 years. She also has an interest in rehabilitation, the importance of postural education and a strong belief in a holistic approach to assessment and treatment.

Techniques that she uses in treatment include soft tissue release, neuromuscular technique and muscle energy techniques, which aim to provide improved soft tissue function to allow rehabilitation, relieve pain and improved quality of movement.

Alison is currently developing a back care clinic, which is aimed at helping those with long term, chronic and recurrent back conditions. She includes Pilates instruction as part of her therapy and uses Acupuncture to complement Physiotherapy treatment where appropriate.
