Counselling offers a place to explore difficulties you may be having with someone. The Counsellor is trained neither to judge you or advise you, but to explore the way you think and feel.
There are many reasons for seeking counselling. You may be feeling upset and distressed for many varied reasons and have problems working out your thoughts, feelings and relationships with others.
You may feel that you are not in control of the way you want your life to be and lack control or direction. Your confidence may be affected.
Talking can often help to bring a new perspective or understanding, or enable you to feel less confused and more confident about your own personal situation.
Whatever you say is confidential between you and the counsellor. If necessary, liaison with other members of the Parks Physiotherapy team may occur with your full knowledge and agreement. However, there are some exceptional circumstances when confidentiality cannot be fully guaranteed if your own safety, or the safety of others, is considered to be of a serious concern.
The counsellor works with a supervisor. That is a counsellor who is more experienced than they are, to ensure that the counsellor is operating ethically and safely and care is taken that clients are not identified.
