Homeopathy

What does a Homeopathic consultation involve?

The first appointment normally lasts between one and a half and two hours for adults; less time is required for children and babies. The aim is find out what makes you unique the Homeopath will talk about:-

  • your personality,
  • any illnesses you have had,
  • your family's health history,
  • likes and dislikes,
  • what annoys you and what makes you feel better

.....amongst other things.

She will also look at what symptoms are common to your disease/condition and what distinguishes your symptoms from another person's, or the general pattern of symptoms for that complaint.

The Homeopath will then think about what makes you unique and find a remedy with the most similar characteristics to you out of the thousands of homeopathic remedies.

Your remedy will be either given to you at the consultation or sent to you. The remedy may be administered by sugar pills, which have been infused with the remedy, or by a liquid potency. You may only be given one pill until your next appointment, or you may need to take your remedy more frequently, even daily, depending on your case.

Follow ups will last about 45 minutes for adults, again less for children and babies.

How does Homeopathy work

Homeopathy uses the principle that 'similar' cures 'similar'. For example, a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person may relieve and then cure those symptoms when that substance is administered homeopathically. This can be explained by analogy: when you slice an onion, allium cepa, your nose and eyes may run a lot, so that substance, allium cepa, is one of the Homeopathic remedies used to treat similar symptoms of runny eyes and nose in a cold or hayfever.

When a patient takes the remedy, their own healing powers react and begin their own healing process.

What is treatable with homeopathy?

In essence most conditions are treatable by homeopathy.

What can be expected from treatment?

Patients usually feel better on a mental and emotional level quite quickly even when chronic conditions cannot be expected to respond quickly.

You know from experience if you start to feel better in yourself, you are able to deal with physical symptoms more easily which, in itself, speeds up the healing process.

Depending on the condition patients may recover fully. Although most people respond well occasionally people do not have a reaction. In cases of advanced pathology it may be only possible to palliate such as by relieving pain.
