Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

Have you ever spoken to a work colleague who has successfully stopped smoking using just one session of hypnotherapy? Or perhaps a friend has lost weight using hypnotherapy and looks fantastic? Hypnosis is an entirely natural state; it isn't sleep but it isn't a dissimilar feeling to feeling sleepy or being in a daydream. This state allows for your unconscious mind to be open and receptive to receiving positive suggestions to help treat emotional problems, alleviate medical conditions, change negative beliefs and behaviours and help you achieve your goals.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a brief strategic therapy that utilises the state of hypnosis to enable you to overcome any physical, psychological and emotional difficulties in your life.

Smoking Cessation

Parks runs a 'one session' smoking cessation hynotherapy service. For more details, please view the Smoking Cessation information page.

What can I expect in my first session?

For your first session, Clare will take a detailed case history, explain what hypnosis is, how it can help you and what you hope to achieve from your session. She will reassure those who may be concerned about remaining 'in control' whilst they are under hypnosis. This will help to ensure that you are at ease with her as your hypnotherapist and that you are comfortable with the concept of hypnosis.

Clare will discuss and agree with you goals for therapy and this will include an estimate of how many sessions may be needed to meet your goals. The number of sessions you will require will depend on your symptoms and nature of complaint. Clare typically tends to treat clients over 1 to 6 sessions and will teach all clients self-hypnosis.

What happens in a hypnotherapy session?

You can either sit or lie down for the hypnosis session and will be encouraged to relax your mind and body. Once your mind and body is relaxed then your subconscious mind will easily accept positive suggestions.

Self-Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis is a technique that you can use yourself to supplement your hypnotherapy with Clare Hargreaves at Parks.

For detailks of this technique, view the Parks Self-Hypnosis page.
